The Ministry has received the green signal and standard operating procedure is also ready, but the possibility of Indian boxers to start practice in the camp is very low as the National Federation is surrounded by some concerns related to the logistical issues due to the Kovid-19 epidemic. The Ministry of Home Affairs has given permission to open the sports complex and stadium and the Indian players are also keen to return to practice including boxers who have been doing fitness training in their homes for the last two months. RK Sacheti, executive director of the Boxing Federation of India said, 'Our proposal is pending with the Sports Authority of India (Sai) team department. Once we get a clear picture, then we will discuss further to start the practice. In this way, Sacheti gave clear indications that the camp would not start immediately. Boxers and the Indian Boxing Federation have to sign a memorandum of understanding and accept the risks of starting the practice amid the epidemic. Only then will they be allowed to return to the Sports Authority of India (SAI) centres for practice.

An official of the Indian Boxing Federation said on the condition of confidentiality, "As per SAI's standard operating procedure, you cannot go to the ring. You cannot hire a partner for practice. In such a situation, there would be no point in collecting them (boxers) amid the risk of infection. Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju had earlier said that there is a plan to open a practice camp by the end of this month, at least for the players who have made it to the Olympics.

Nine boxers (five men and four women) have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics. The Tokyo Olympics has been postponed until 2021 due to an epidemic. In India itself, more than one lakh people are infected and more than 3000 have died. The officer said, "There is a big risk in this." There are no boxers in Patiala (where a men's camp is held) or Delhi (where a women's camp is held). Now it will be difficult to take them to these places.
