'No record of death of a farmer during agitation...': Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh

New Delhi: No farmer has died in the ongoing farmers' agitation against agricultural laws. This was stated by Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar in a written reply in the Lok Sabha. The Union Minister said that the Ministry of Agriculture does not have any record of death of a farmer due to farmers' agitation. There is no question of compensation to the families of the deceased farmers.

In fact, the government was questioned in the Lok Sabha whether it had any data on how many farmers died during the agitation and whether the government would provide compensation to the families of the farmers who died during the agitation. If so, give detailed information by its government, if not, the government should give the reason. To which Narendra Singh Tomar in his reply said that the government is constantly actively in talks with the agitating farmers. So that the movement can be eliminated. There were also 11 rounds of talks between the government and the agitating farmers' organizations.

He said the government has repealed all the three agricultural laws in the winter session of Parliament. In addition, the government has also announced minimum support prices (MSP) of 22 crops on the advice of commission for agriculture costs and prices. Crops are being procured under various schemes of the government by central and state level agencies for procurement at MSP.
