DOHA:The Spanish national football team may have returned home after falling to Morocco in a World Cup semifinal penalty shootout, but the Spanish football league will have a strong presence in Sunday's championship game between France and Argentina.

Currently, 15 of the 52 members of the France and Argentina teams compete in La Liga. If we add Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, who had to return to Spain due to a muscle injury but was never replaced by coach Didier Deschamps in the French team, that number rises to 16.

Antoine Griezmann, Rodrigo de Paul, Angel Correa, and Nahuel Molina are all at Atletico Madrid, despite the team not having the best of seasons. Atletico is also the club with the most players represented.

The French squad includes Pavard, Upamecano, Coman, and Lucas Hernandez from Bayern Munich, however, Lucas is currently rehabilitating after rupturing his cruciate knee ligament.

FC Barcelona sent the most players (17) to the World Cup, but only Ousmane Dembele and Jules Kounde are still present.

With 10 players from the Premier League, including Argentine forward Julian Alvarez and goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, playing in England at the moment, eight players are from France, seven from each of Germany and Italy, two from Portugal, and just one from each of the United States and Argentina, perhaps illustrating how many top Argentine players look to find success abroad.
