No threat to the Congress-JD (S) coalition in the state: Siddaramaiah

Former Chief Minister and coalition’s coordination committee chairman Siddaramaiah on Monday reiterated that there was no threat to the Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) coalition in the state and criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party for claiming that the government will collapse. "Yeddyurappa has been saying for the past one year the government will fall. He will continue to say the same for the next four years. I am confident the government is strong," Siddaramaiah said.

“Yeddyurappa claims to form the government in spite of not having the number,” he tweeted. “This is not a new drama but this is continuously misleading the public. Mr. Narendra Modi bowed to the Constitution but in which article has the constitution given the right to the BJP to destabilize our government.”

He asserted that all Congress lawmakers, including dissident leader Ramesh Jarkiholi, were with the party and nobody was leaving.

When asked whether the coalition leaders had a proposal to drop a few Ministers and accommodate others to douse the dissidence, Mr. Siddaramaiah categorically denied that there were any such plans. He dismissed reports suggesting the same as a creation of the media.

On May 26, Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party President BS Yeddyurappa had said that he is ready to face elections if the Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) coalition government decides to dissolve the Assembly.

Mr. Siddaramaiah sought to make it clear that there will be no impact of the results of the Lok Sabha polls on the coalition government. “People have given their vote on who should form a government at the Centre. It is not a vote for who should form a government in the State. They have already given their vote on who should form the State government in 2018”, he said.
