New Delhi: Farmers' agitation continues in New Delhi against the government's agricultural laws. Regarding the farmers' movement, Nobel prize winner and economist Abhijeet Banerjee has said that there is a need for improvement in this field. Apart from paddy crops only, the government should offer a more transparent and 'attractive' minimum support price system for other crops.

According to media reports, Banerjee feels that providing an equally attractive minimum support price (MSP) for other sustainable crops may be a solution. Banerjee further says that it is written on the wall that due to agricultural reforms, selling crops on MSP will become less profitable. He said, "This will make some losers and winners. The government can only accept it and try to give compensation to the losers. "

He said that thousands of farmers in Punjab and Haryana are opposing the laws on various frontiers of Delhi, fearing that they will weaken the MSP and mandi systems and leave them at the mercy of big corporates. The government says that the law is to help the farmers and increase their income.
