Noida: The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is working on a major project to promote electric vehicles. The government plans to make ten cities into electric vehicle cities in ten years. The scheme will develop Noida, which is also the most developed city in UP, as a pilot city adjacent to Delhi. The government will present Noida as an ideal city by 2020, working on every criterion of the EV policy. In addition, the government has also introduced a phased plan to start operating 2030 electric vehicles.

A top government official said the electric vehicle manufacturing policy sets a target of developing 10 cities as the ideal Electric Mobility (EM) city by 2030. These include Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Mathura, Agra, Kanpur, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur and Varanasi. It has now been decided that the first of these will be to focus on increasing electric mobility in Noida. It will be made a standard city by 2020 by working on all measures related to innovative mobility.

After this, work will be done in other cities by increasing the focus. For this, the Government will also take the assistance of CSR. It is the endeavor of the Government to increase the electric mobility in 10 model EM cities to 50 percent by 2024. The government has planned to use 1000 EVA buses by 2030 to increase electric vehicles for public transport.

Now, the road map for their utilization has been worked out in a phased manner. By 2020, 25 percent of the buses will be off the road. This will be followed by a 35 percent increase in the second phase by 2022. The remaining 40 percent of the buses will be on the roads by 2030.
