Bhopal: On the last day of filing nominations for the three-tier panchayat elections, there was enthusiasm among the candidates where candidates from different panchayats in large numbers reached the district headquarters to file nominations. As per the information received till 6 pm on June 6, the last day of submission of nomination papers under the three-tier Panchayat elections, 1 lakh 94 thousand 259 nominations have been received. The process of obtaining the nomination papers began on 30th May.

State Election Commission Secretary Rakesh Singh informed that out of the total 4718 candidates for zila panchayat member, 2182 are male and 2535 are female and one other candidate. Out of the total 16 thousand 893 candidates for The Janpad Panchayat member, 7703 are male and 9190 are female candidates. Out of the total 81 thousand 322 candidates for sarpanch, 39 thousand 132 are male and 42 thousand 141 are female and 49 other candidates. Out of the total 91 thousand 326 candidates for the post of Panch, 46 thousand 979 male, 44 thousand 211 female and 136 others have submitted nominationpapers.

For the same Zila Panchayat member, 91 candidates have filed nominationpapers in District Bhopal, 183 in Gwalior, 83 in Jabalpur, 20 in Indore, 116 in Ujjain, 47 in Ratlam, 120 in Mandsaur, 67 in Neemuch and 110 in Niwari. Scrutiny of nomination papers for the three-tier Panchayat elections will be held on June 7. The last date for withdrawal of nominations from candidates is June 10. On the same day, the allotment of election symbols will also take place. Polling for the first phase will be held on June 25, the second phase on July 1 and the third phase on July 8.
