The corona epidemic has added to the problems across the country, while new cancer cases were recorded highest among women and men in Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh and Aizawl in Mizoram. A report released by the Indian Council of Medical Research and the National Centre for Disease Informatics and Research said that there are 219.8 cases of cancer per one lakh cancers in women in the Papum Pare district.

The same is 269.4 per one lakh cases of men in Mizoram's capital Aizawl. North-East India is the cancer capital of the country, with the highest cancer rate of newly diagnosed cancer cases in the country, said Dr. Kalinga Jerang, principal investigator of the population-based cancer registry at Bakin Pertin General Hospital. the PBCR project under ICMR-NCDIR, Bengaluru, is studying the trends of cancer under the National Cancer Registry Programme (NCRP). He said the cancer data done by the project will be used by the government in the prevention, treatment, and policy making decisions of cancer.

According to the study, the Aizawl district in Asia has a higher rate of lung cancer in Asia than non-Asian countries and men also have the highest rate of colon cancer. Tobacco-related cancers are also the highest among the North Eastern States of India. Cancer is a disease that spreads throughout the body.
