Northeast to rise as a business and tourist destination says Jitendra Singh

Union Minister Jitendra Singh after addressing a virtual meeting with officials of British High Commission said northeast region of the country will emerge as a tremendous business and tourist destination after the coronavirus pandemic gets over.He has invited the British government and the private sector for utilizing the huge business potential in the northeast region. He said India and UK can enjoy mutually rewarding business relationship, and can work together in exploring and exploiting new opportunities in the northeastern region.

A proposal by the British Council for collaboration in the education sector for teaching science and mathematics in all the eight sister states of the region and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed soon with the northeastern council to take the collaboration to a new level. The British council has expressed its willingness to work with universities and technology institutes of the region, particularly IIT-Guwahati. The ministry said the Northeast being the gateway to the growing economies of South East Asian nations, has a special role to play in the promotion of trade and business relations with ASEAN.

British officials have greatly appreciated and is highly impressed of the handicrafts, fruits, vegetables and spices in the northeastern states and expressed their willingness to brand them and sell the same in global market. Singh added the northeastern region for the first time it received equal attention alike the other regions of the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and this has instilled confidence among the people and also improvised the capacity to engage with other parts of India, other countries across the eastern borders at different levels.
