Guwahati: In a remarkable show of enthusiasm, thousands of young people from Northeast India gathered to participate in the Indian Army’s Agniveer Recruitment Rally held in Udalguri district, Assam. Despite facing criticism from opposition parties, over 25,000 youths from the region took part in this significant event.

The recruitment drive took place from August 16 to August 23, 2024, at the Upendranath Brahma Football Stadium in Udalguri. The rally provided an invaluable opportunity for youths from Lower Assam and other northeastern states to join the Indian Army as Agniveers. Of the 25,000 applicants who took the written test, 2,500 advanced to the next stage of the recruitment process. These candidates came from 13 districts in Assam and seven other northeastern states. The districts involved included South Solmara, Kokrajhar, Kamrup Metro, Kamrup Rural, Golpara, Bongaigaon, Dhubri, Darrang, Udalguri, Baksa, Chirang, Barpeta, and Nalbari.

The selection process was rigorous, encompassing medical examinations, physical fitness tests, and various evaluations. Successful candidates will proceed to their designated training facilities to begin their journey as Agniveers in the Indian Army.

The event's success was largely due to the unwavering support from the State Police and Civil Administration, highlighting the Army's commitment to harnessing the potential of Northeast youth and offering them a chance to serve their country with honor and dedication.
