On Friday afternoon, an earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter Scale hit the India-Myanmar border area and a few Northeastern states, including Mizoram. At 8.48 p.m. on Friday, another tremor measuring 4.2 on the Richter Scale struck the Dibang valley in northern Arunachal and neighboring districts.

There were no injuries reported or property damage in any of the earthquake-affected locations. The 4.2 magnitude tremor in Arunachal Pradesh was registered at a depth of 10 kilometres from the surface of the land, according to data from the National Centre for Seismology and disaster management officials.

In the afternoon of Friday, the first tremor was felt powerfully in Champhai district in eastern Mizoram. Some parts of Manipur, Assam, and Bangladesh were also affected. The quake occurred 60 kilometres under the surface of the ground.

Three earthquakes were detected in the area earlier this week. On Tuesday, an earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter Scale struck Mizoram, while two moderate-intensity quakes - 3.5 and 3.8 on the Richter Scale - struck areas of Assam and Manipur, respectively, on Monday.
