Not an IITian but a Mumbai’s boy offered Rs 1.2 crore job at Google

Mumbai:  Abdullah Khan engineering student from Mumbai will join be Google in September at an annual package of Rs 1.2 crore. News about high salaray packages being offered to young graduates from IITs is not uncommon but Abdullah is no IITian but he is a student of Shree LR Tiwari Engineering College, Mumbai.

Abdullah did not apply for Google’s jobs. He was, in fact, called by the company for an interview after they spotted his profile on a site that hosts competitive programming challenges. Speaking to TOI, 21-year- old shared that the call was unexpected. In fact, when he participated in the competition, he did not do so hoping for a job but rather for fun. Last November he received an official email from Google that changed the young man’s life. Such was his surprise that he showed the email to a friend who knew someone who had received such a mail. The email notified him that the company has seen his profile on the said website and that they were looking for people across Europe. He gave a few online interviews d and he went for the final screening round at Google's office in London early this month.

Google’s salary package includes a base salary component to the tune of £60,000 per annum which roughly translates into Rs 54.5 lakh per annum. Apart from this, he is also entitled to a 15 per cent bonus and stock options worth Rs 58.9 lakh over four years.
