BEIJING: China has launched a sanitation campaign in villages and China has said it will put more force on environmental improvement in villages. In the first six months of the current year, more than 80 per cent villages in the country have undertaken sanitation campaigns. During this period, over 4 million tonnes of waste was eliminated, more than 3 million tonnes of silt was disposed of from village ponds and more than 40 lakh broken walls were repaired in villages.

Li Weiquan, director of the social work promotion department of the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Village, said that since 2018, the Ministry of Agriculture and Village has actively promoted the toilet revolution in villages, the household waste water solution and sanitation campaign. The concerned departments have put in place a lot of power to improve the residential environment of the villages.  He said the central government's budget in 2019 has arranged 7 billion yuan for the village toilet revolution.

The union budget allocates 3 billion special capital to tackle toilet sewage pollution in villages in central and western China. According to statistics, more than 50,000 new installations have been started to dispose of household waste in rural areas of the country in the first six months of this year, with more than 80,000 new installations underway to dispose of the dirty water of the house. In addition, toilets in more than 1 crore farmers' homes are improving.
