Washington: violent scene unfolded at the Capitol on Wednesday as supporters of President Donald Trump swarmed the building to protest the Electoral College vote, forcing a lockdown and various confrontations with police. This clash led to the death of four persons. One of the four casualties was a woman, who was shot at by police and died in hospital later.

 Washington DC's Metropolitan Police Department Chief Robert Contee in a media briefing said, "The remaining three people – one woman and two men - died of "medical emergencies" near Capitol grounds during the violent storming of the US Capitol." According to the report, woman was a dedicated Donald Trump supporter and a United States Air Force veteran. She has been identified in US media as Ashli Babbitt who hails from San Diego, California. On her Twitter account, Babbitt had identified herself as a veteran. She had recently retweeted messages supporting  Trump. "Nothing will stop us....they can try and try and try but the storm is here and it is descending upon DC in less than 24 hours....dark to light!", she had tweeted on Tuesday.

After this incident, many lawmakers slammed Trump for inciting violence, with some calling for his immediate impeachment and removal.
