It's now official that Oxford Dictionaries has made public its decision to declare a Hindi Word of the year from 2017. Soliciting the suggestions for the word or expressions, the longest and most famous dictionary for English Language, Oxford Dictionary has asked the masses of the country to submit their suggestions. Their thought, the Hindi word of the year will be a word or expression that has attracted a great deal of interest this year. Here is how you can submit your choice. 

The rules are easy – you have to suggest and or choose a word that reflects the ethos, mood, or preoccupations of the year 2017. The word need not be a new word...any word which is somehow very strongly linked to the year 2017. From the suggestions received, a panel of experts from Hindi Dictionaries team at Oxford University Press along with an advisory panel of language experts who would render their own unique perspective towards the words shortlisted and then chose. Making that suggestion, however, is a task left to the people speaking the language or using the word. Here is how you can make your own contribution to the Hindi Word of the year 2017.

-Individuals can submit up to 5 suggestions for the Hindi Word of the Year
Also, share what according to you makes your nomination a good contender for the Word of the Year award (not mandatory) Submit your suggestions – it's that simple. 

Suggestions are invited from the general public till November 29. The panel of experts including writer-publisher Namita Gokhle, Indian language expert Kritika Agrawal, journalist Saurabh Dwivedi, senior editorial manager at OUP India Malika Ghosh, and Ranchi University associate professor Poonam Nigam Sahay would be included in selecting the word. 

Oxford has been publishing dictionaries for over 150 years. Known around the world for a most comprehensive compilation of words in the English Language. Taking an effort forward to further their research, they have asked Hindi speakers from across India to rush in their entries. So, think hard and make your choice. Maybe your word would be chosen as the Word of the year. Hindi Word of the Year 2017 would be announced by Oxford Dictionary in January 2018.
