Mumbai: On Tuesday, the Assam government issued an advertisement claiming the country's sixth Jyotirlinga to be in Assam. Assam government's advertisement has claimed that India's sixth Jyotirling named Bhimashankar is present on the Dakini hill in its state. The opposition in Maharashtra criticized this claim of the Assam government. Actually, it is believed that the Jyotirlinga located near Bhimashankar in Pune, Maharashtra is the sixth Jyotirlinga.

The same advertisement was released by the Assam government on Tuesday. A big controversy has arisen regarding this claim made by the state of Assam. After this announcement by the tourism department of Assam, now the state government is being severely criticized. Taking objection to this, the Maharashtra Congress has accused the BJP government of Assam of stealing Jyotirlinga, which has been the center of the Hindu faith for centuries. Party leader Sachin Sawant has said that till now the governments of other BJP-ruled states were stealing the investors of Maharashtra, but now efforts are being made to steal the religious center. On the other hand, Madhukar Shastri Gawande, the chief priest of Bhimashankar Devasthan, said that no one should trust what the Assam government says.

The same Congress general secretary Sachin Sawant tweeted, ''Leaving industries, BJP now wants to snatch Mahadev from Maharashtra as well. Now, the BJP Assam government claims that the sixth Jyotirlinga of Bhimashankar is located in Assam and not in Maharashtra's Pune district. We strongly condemn this absurd claim." At the same time, Sawant demanded that the Maharashtra government should clear its stand and condemn this action of the BJP government, which has hurt the feelings and sentiments of the 12 crore people of Maharashtra. "The BJP's resentment against Maharashtra is visible once again," he said.
