According to the reports now, CBSE students will also get the knowledge about Python, which is the short and easy programming language. Along with this, a new educational language named ‘Scratch’, developed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT) will also be introduced in the revised curriculum.

The curriculum was developed an expert committee headed by professors Smruti R Sarangi from IIT Delhi and Vikram Goyal from IIIT Delhi. The proposed curriculum has been uploaded in CBSE’s official website for suggestions.

“The new curriculum would focus on basic foundational skills and socially relevant projects. ,” said Sarangi. Students can create their own animations using this language without employing difficult programming concepts. Thousands of templates are available online for free which would make learning through Scratch easier, said experts.

“Class XI and XII students will get to know about latest technologies including 3G, 4G and cloud computing and web technology and multimedia will be removed from the syllabus,” Sarangi added. The focus on computer hardware, networking, and other low-level details are reduced in the new syllabus compared to the old syllabus.

In an attempt to support the central government’s initiatives under Digital India scheme, the committee had added topics related to effects of digital technology, cyber safety, cyber etiquette and responsible use of social media in the textbooks Sarangi added.
