IPO of LIC is awaited by the common investor as well as everyone. India's Finance Secretary TV Somnathan said the listing of LIC will take place in the first quarter of the next financial year. According to India's Finance Secretary TV Somnathan, the sale of government participation in LIC will be done between March-June 2022. This means that the listing of LIC will be completed by June 2022. He said this in an address to the Madras School of Economics.

He said, "I say that the work of selling partnerships in Air India will end soon. This process is in its final stages. LIC is also going to be disinvested. A line has been fixed from March to June next year. The Finance Secretary said that the government is also selling its participation in the container corporation of India. It may also be disinvested in the next financial year.'' He said the government will sell its participation in Air India this year.

Chief Economic Advisor Krishnamurthy Subramanian had said on Saturday that LIC will be disinvested by the fourth quarter of this year. "This year, companies are set to raise Rs 1.75 lakh crore by selling partnerships.'' The sale of partnership in Air India is going on in a grand manner. It may be recalled that LIC is the largest insurance company in the country. India's life insurance market has more than a 60 per cent share of LIC with $500 billion worth of property and the expected size of LIC IPO is said to be $12.2 billion.
