The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has also introduced a new model of 'Federated Digital Identities,' under which a citizen's multiple digital IDs such as PAN and Aadhaar to driving license and passport number are to be interlinked, stored and accessed through a unique ID. MoRTH India in its circular has said that it has received all kinds of approvals from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to use the digital platform to ensure good governance.
At the same time, those who want to use online services will have to go through Aadhaar authentication. The ministry also said that it will make all arrangements for wider publicity through media and personal notices to make citizens aware of the need for Aadhaar to avail of contactless services through implementing agencies. However, it is also emphasized that all this online work has been started with one objective, which is to streamline the process and make the services hassle-free and contactless for citizens. Right now, the Ministry is offering about 18 contactless services.
