Supaul: Bird flu has hit Supaul in Bihar. A few days ago, crows and chickens suddenly started dying in Chapkahi village under the Sadar police station area. Subsequently, when the Animal Husbandry Department investigated the matter, bird flu has been confirmed in the samples taken for birds from the village. After the bird flu was confirmed, the animal husbandry department started the work of killing chickens and birds within a 1 km area in the village so that the bird flu virus does not spread to other areas. An inquiry has also been initiated within a radius of 9 km of Chhapkahi village.

In fact, two weeks ago, in wards no. 1 to 11 of Chapkahi village, there was a sudden death of chickens, ducks and crows, after which the team of animal husbandry department went to the village and conducted an investigation. When a team was called from Patna and a sample of the infected birds was taken, the test revealed a case of bird flu.

On the orders of the Director of the Animal Husbandry Department, Supaul Collector Kaushal Kumar and SP D Amarkesh issued joint instructions and constituted a Rapid Response Team. This team has been given the task of killing the infected birds. Teams have been formed to identify and investigate all the villages within a radius of 1 to 9 kilometres of the area to prevent the spread of bird flu infection. The purpose of this is to prevent the bird flu virus in a limited scope. Considering Chhapkahi village as a centre, the animal husbandry department has formed 4 teams to kill chickens in all the villages within a radius of 1 km. District Animal Husbandry Officer Ram Shankar Jha, who arrived on the occasion, said that compensation will also be given to all the bird breeders.
