Kolkata: Recently Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee strongly attacked the Modi government of the Center on Friday over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). She bluntly said that she would not allow CAA to be implemented in Bengal under any circumstances. The central government cannot enlist the state governments to implement this law. Mamata also announced to protest against it. According to the media, On Friday, the Chief Minister said that the BJP-led central government is trying to worsen the law and order situation in the North-East. In a democracy, having a majority in seats in Parliament does not mean that anyone can impose its views on others. Democracy means taking everyone together by consensus.

The Chief Minister informed that as a protest, she will not go to Delhi to participate in the Samaroh to be organized to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Mamata said - 'Citizenship Amendment Act will divide India. As long as we are in power in Bengal, no citizen of this country will have to leave the country. Criticizing BJP-ruled Tripura Chief Minister Viplav Dev, Mamata said that he should public his citizenship documents.
