SRINAGAR: National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval, who is taking stock of the continuing situation in Jammu and Kashmir, visited several areas of Srinagar on Monday to assess the situation. On the occasion of Bakrada, Ajit Doval visited Lal Chowk in Srinagar and also visited areas that are considered to be extremely sensitive from the security point of view. Ajit Doval along with his entire team had gone to downtown Srinagar.

These areas include Saura, Pampore, Lal Chowk and Hazratbal. Saura is the area of Srinagar where there were earlier protests against India. Ajit Doval also took stock of the situation in Pulwama and Avantipura districts. The festival of goats was celebrated in Srinagar on Monday in a peaceful atmosphere.

According to media reports, more than 10,000 people offered prayers peacefully on the occasion of Eid al-Adha in mosques in Jammu and Kashmir. As per the information received from the Union Home Ministry, the residents of Anantnag, Baramulla, Budgam, Bandipur also offered prayers and distributed sweets to their friends. In Jammu and Kashmir, no untoward incident has been reported during this period, the situation in the valley is under control.
