New Delhi: After the claim made by the Arvind Kejriwal government regarding the shortage of coal in the national capital Delhi, now the statement of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has come to the fore. NTPC on Friday said that it has no shortage of coal. Every unit of it is operational. NTPC said that the Dadri Second and Unchahar power plants are working at full capacity.

NTPC said in a statement that at present, the Unchahar and Dadri station grids are running with 100 per cent capacity. All the units of Unchahar and Dadri are working on full load except Unchahar Unit-1. All the six units of Dadri and five units of Unchahar are running with full capacity and are also getting regular coal supply. NTPC said that out of the two power plants, 140,000 MT of coal is currently in the pipeline and 95,000 MT at Dadri.  

What did the Delhi government say on the coal situation?

The Delhi government on Thursday said that out of the five stations from which it receives electricity, only one or two days' worth of coal is left on two. The Delhi government had urged the Central Government to provide adequate coal stock. Due to the scorching heat, the demand for power in the capital Has crossed the 6000 MW daily level for the first time in the month of April.
