Facebook has achieved a new milestone. On this social network, the number of active users on the monthly basis has crossed the figure of two billion. The company said that it touched a billion figure five years ago.

The company's co-founder and chief executive said on the Facebook post, "This visit is a matter of honor with you." The number of Facebook users is more than any one country's population and more than six out of seven continents. It is more than 25 percent of the world's 7.5 billion population.

According to Facebook, active users are those who have visited their platforms through their website or mobile device in the past 30 days. It does not include people who use the Instagram or Whatsapp network but do not use Facebook.

By March 31 this year, the number of people using Facebook services was 1.94 billion. This is 17 percent higher than a year ago. In October 2012, Facebook touched the figure of one billion.
