Then, in the middle of the shoot, Nutan read a magazine about her and Sanjeev's affair. Nutan is said to have been very angry to read the report and then slapped Sanjeev on the sets. He explained this in an interview to a magazine in 1972. Nutan and Sanjeev Kumar's friendship was then called an affair by the magazine, and Nutan did not like it and her married life began to break. Nutan then slapped Sanjeev on the sets of the film itself. Some say she did it at her husband's behest.

Nutan is one of the first Bollywood actresses to wear a swimsuit on screen. Nutan passed away on February 21, 1991.
