Actress Nutan who belongs to the  Hindi cinema world family is one of the finest actresses in the world of cinema. Nutan had done more than 70 films in her long career spanning nearly 4 decades. She was born on June 4, 1939. Here let's take day to know more about her life.

Nutan's father Kumarsen Samarth was a filmmaker and mother Shobhana Samarth was a well-known actress of that era. Nutan started her movie career at age of 14. Her first movie was 'Our Daughter' in 1950 which was directed by his mother. According to media reports, Nutan has also crowned Miss India in 1952. She was 16 years old at the time. Her mother, Shobhana, had said in a testimony that 'everyone used to say that she is very thin only then I thought she needed grooming and I sent her to Mussoorie where she took it to a beauty contest. Everyone was surprised when she was elected Miss Mussoorie.'' In the long run, the relationship between Nutan and his mother had deteriorated. She had accused her mother of money manipulation. The talks between the two were closed for nearly 20 years.

Let us tell you that she got a big break from the film 'Seema'. She was also awarded the Filmfare Best Actress award for the movie.  After which Nutan did other movies including 'Paying Guest', 'Anadi', 'Sujata', 'Chhalia', 'Bandini', 'SaraswatiChandra', 'Devi', 'Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki'. Nutan received five Filmfare Awards for Best Actress. She was awarded the Padma Shri in 1974 for her contribution to films.
