On Monday, the former U.S. President Barack Obama along with his wife Michelle Obama has signed a deal with Netflix Inc. In the deal, the couple agreed to produce films and series of the streaming service for Netflix Inc. The deal gives the former first couple a powerful and unique platform to shape their post-White House legacy.

Barack Obama, due to this deal, will have the option to produce scripted and unscripted series under the name of Higher Ground Productions. The production also includes documentaries and feature films, reports Netflix.

The Obama couple will have the liberty to involve in the producing content and will also appear in some of the shows, say sources. The terms and conditions of the multi-year deals are not at all disclosed. The first of the programming is not assumed to reach viewers until about May 2019, sources included. 

The deal between the couple and Netflix Inc is slated to boost some 125 million subscribers worldwide. it is going to be the first for any occupant of the White House. While leading to this, the Obamas gave no details of the topics they planned to cover in this deal. But the content is not expected to be straight political.

Meanwhile, According to News18, Netflix Inc has budgeted $8 billion for programming in 2018, is also producing Martin Scorsese’s next film starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. Barack Obama was the first guest on David Letterman’s return to television in a widespread talk show format with Netflix that debuted in January.
