Odisha: Over 5,000 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Odisha, with ten deaths. The daily COVID- cases in the state continued to decline on Friday, with 5,057 more persons testing positive, down from 844 the day before, according to the health department.

According to a notification, 667 youngsters are among the newly sick. The coronavirus death toll now stands at 12,36,226, with 10 more fatalities bringing the total to 8,560.

In the past, five-thirds of coronavirus patients have died from comorbidities, according to the bulletin. On Thursday, the state reported 5,901 single-day cases and eight deaths. It recorded 9,833 new illnesses a week ago.

Odisha screened 61,635 samples in the last 24 hours, with an 8.2 percent positivity rate, it said. According to the accounts, Khurda district reported 1,111 new cases, followed by Cuttack with 495 and Sundargarh with 429.

In Khurda, the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) was 17.1 percent, whereas in Sundargarh, it was 12.9 percent. There are 19 additional districts with a positive rate of over 5 percent.
