Odisha: The state Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday announced umpteen projects worth Rs 70 crore for the development of the Pipili-Delang constituency. It was announced during a public meeting in the Pipili-Delang area through video conferencing. It will cover a wide range of development projects, from roads to irrigation, stadiums, bridges and bus stands.

Addressing the gathering, the Patnaik remembered late Pipili MLA Pradeep Maharathy, who had worked for the development of his constituency throughout his life. Remembering late Pipili MLA Pradeep Maharathy, the Chief Minister said, “He has been associated with the development of Pipili-Delang for more than 30 years. He was with you in all your good and bad things. He has worked all his life to develop Pipili-Delang.”

Offering his tributes to the departed soul, Patnaik said, “I always focus on the development of villages and women and on the welfare of farmers. It’s the smile on the face of the poor that gives me pleasure.” He praised the work of the Mission Shakti mothers during the coronavirus-induced lockdown and the farmers who continued to farm without fear of coronavirus during the lockdown.

“The country’s economy is alive today because of the hard work of the farmers. Therefore, I thank the women and farmers,” said the Chief Minister.

“This year marks the 100th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s arrival in Odisha. Gandhi first visited Odisha on March 23, 1921. He came to Beraboi in Delang in 1936 and took part in an agro and village enterprise exhibition. Gandhi’s ideals have always been important to us, especially now,” said Patnaik.
