Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik on Saturday inaugurated a 200 bedded Corona Hospital set up by aluminium company Vedanta Resources in Kalahandi city. Equipped with all modern facilities, the hospital has been funded by Vedanta Company but will be managed by the Odisha government.

Patnaik inaugurated the hospital through a digital programme in the presence of Vedanta Resources Chairman Anil Agarwal and other officials of the company. Set up at District Headquarters Bhawanipatna under the aegis of Anil Agarwal Foundation, the Covid Hospital has 200 beds, 16 ICU (ICU) and several HDUs with ventilator support. The company said the hospital has a ward for the treatment of children infected with corona infection, the first ward of its type in Odisha. Vedanta has also set up an oxygen plant in the hospital premises to increase the supply of medical oxygen to the patients.

Odisha has saved many lives by supplying oxygen to 18 states. It is a great honour for the people of Odisha to have the opportunity to serve humanity in such a danger situation. Inaugurating the hospital, CM Naveen Patnaik wished the people of Kalahandi, doctors, health professionals, ASHA and Anganwadi workers to fight against the second wave of corona. Highlighting the steps taken by the state government to fight the epidemic, the CM said that work on 15 oxygen plants in the state has started in the last few days and medical oxygen production will start in the next two months.
