Odisha: Former Nabarangpur Member of parliament and Congress's state working president Pradeep  Majhi quit from the primary membership of the party on Friday. In a letter written to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, the ex Parliamentarian have sought the party's lost credibility as the reason behind quitting the grand old party.

Citing the reason for his resignation, Pradeep Majhi said that while he had a great desire to serve people, "the party lacks the enthusiasm to do the same". "The party has almost lost its credibility which may take a long time to revive," he added. He went on to say: With deep pain, I have decided to quit the primary membership of Indian National Congress. I had joined the party with utmost enthusiasm to serve the needy. Accordingly, the party also gave me ample opportunities along with a top position,"

Conversely, expressing his gratitude towards the party which provides him with ample opportunity to serve the people, Majhi has stated to follow the ideology of Congress in serving the people. Majhi bid adieu to Congress two days after the party’s former Laxmipur MLA Kailash Kulesika joined the ruling BJD on Wednesday.
