Puri: The Odisha government has decided to set up more eco-retreat camps and start motorcycle festivals. The decision has been taken to attract tourists to Kandhamal district this winter. Kandhamal will soon be developed as a major tourist destination with its forests, waterfalls, and rivers. This was stated by AK Tripathi, Principal Advisor to CM and Chairman, Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) during his visit to the city on Saturday.

"Kandhamal district is full of natural beauty," he added. Its hill ranges are part of the great Eastern Ghats. Last year, an eco-retreat camp was started at Daeringbari and received an encouraging response. There will be more such eco-retreat camps this year. He has asked District Collector D. Brunda to identify and develop the roads leading to bright springs at Kuturi, Putudi, and Katramal.

The same Tripathi ordered Superintendent of Police Vineet Agarwal to promote the district as a motorcycle circuit and link it to Chandaka near Bhubaneswar. He asked Agarwal to develop circuits in coordination with bikers clubs in the state and other parts of the country and start motorcycle festivals in winter. Recently, a fire broke out in a temporary canvas cottage at Satkosia Eco Retreat Camp near Baliput in the Cuttack district. After which a video of the incident was also shared.
