PURI: The majestic chariots of Mahaprabhu, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra are decorated and prepared for their annual sojourn to Gundicha temple.

Three hours earlier than expected, the Holy Trinity rites have commenced. By 3.30 am, Lord Jagannath's Magala Alati and Mailama Niti were complete. Other ceremonies are also going off without a hitch.

On the Dhadi Pahandi procession, Chakraraj Sudarsan was led first to the Nandighosha chariot, then Lord Balabhadra's Pahandi was led to the Taladhwaja chariot.

In the meantime, many followers have flocked to Badadanda to see the Holy Trinity's yearly pilgrimage.  To address potential drowning instances on the beach during Rath Yatra, the district administration has organised three squads and hired 39 firefighters.

Moreover, there will be up to 10 fire pumps at Bada Danda to release water. The Puri Fire Services department will also hire a dedicated rescue crew to provide 24-hour assistance to the needy.
