Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik said on Monday that the state government is committed to empowering the Panchayati Raj system so that development helps the poorest of the poor.

On Monday, the office of Odisha's Chief Minister announced that 210 assistant executive engineers had joined the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department. In the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, this is the inaugural class of a new engineering cadre.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that Rural Housing and Drinking Water Supply are the two hallmark programmes of the Odisha Government while speaking at an orientation programme for newly recruited Assistant Executive Engineers of the PR and DW Department.

"The state government is committed to converting all Kucha houses to Pucca dwellings within a reasonable time frame. Similarly, a target has been set for all rural households to have access to piped water by 2024. As a result, the government is increasing manpower at the Gram Panchayat level. The expansion of rural infrastructure has been a priority for the state government. As a result, the formation of a new engineering cadre reflects our commitment to it "said the Chief Minister.

He went on to say that the state government is committed to strengthening the Panchayati Raj system so that development benefits reach the poorest of the poor. The Chief Minister asked the newly hired engineers to dedicate all of their enthusiasm and knowledge into being a part of Odisha's change.
