Bhubaneswar: A tragic train accident took place on Friday (June 2) evening in Balasore, Odisha. The coaches of the Bengaluru-Howrah Express and then the Coromandel Express derailed at Bahnaga Bazar station and then collided with a freight train. So far 280 passengers have lost their lives in this heart-rending accident. At the same time, more than 900 are said to be injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured from the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.

Railway Board officials said that the accident took place near Bahanaga Bazar station at 7:20 pm. Due to this, many coaches of the Howrah-bound Superfast Express derailed and fell on the other track. At the same time, the coaches collided with the Chennai-bound Shalimar Chennai Coromandel Express. Due to this, the coaches of the second train also overturned.

But how did two trains get on the same track?

After this tragic accident, the big question is arising that, after all, there can be two reasons for how two trains come on the same track at the same time. One is human error and the other is technical fault. A technical glitch is believed to be the reason behind the train accident in Odisha. According to media reports, two trains came on the same track and collided due to a signal failure. Actually, the driver runs the train on the instructions of the control room and instructions from the control room are given by looking at the traffic on the tracks.

It can be understood in such a way that every railway control room has a large display, which shows which track is on the train and which track is empty. It is shown through green and red colored lights. For example, if there is a train on a track or is running, then that signal will show red and if the track is empty, then that signal shows green light. In view of this, instructions are given to the locopilot from the control room. But this time, looking at the accident that happened, it is being speculated that the signal of the train did not appear correctly on the display and that is why this accident happened.
