Central GST officers have asked for documents like GST Return, GST Registration Certificate, Copy of Annual Report, Income Tax Return, Cost Report, Tax, and Internal Audit, Cash Ledger and Work Order. Some experts say that many documents are already with the department. In such a situation, their demand again is justified.

Many of the information that is being sought is already with the authorities. Many big companies have registered in more than one state and it is very difficult to audit every year in every state. '' It is noteworthy that GST collection has consistently remained below the government's target. In such a situation, the pressure has increased on the officials to achieve the target of GST collection fixed in the current financial year. To achieve the target, the authorities are repeatedly engaged in curbing cases of tax evasion.

Apart from this, removing the gaps in the system is also a priority for the officials. The same week, the Revenue Department convened a meeting of senior GST officials of the Center and states. A nine-point strategy was devised at the meeting to address the gaps in the GST regime. Harassing taxpayers may not provide much benefit, but improvements in technology will yield good results. The government is soon preparing to bring the rule that input tax credit should not exceed 10 percent. In such a situation, the taxpayers will have to move towards technology.
