The 2021 T20 World Cup has been officially announced to shift from India to UAE. This was stated by the International Cricket Council on June 29. It said the tournament will be played in UAE and Oman. It will begin on October 17 and the final will be played on November 14. Earlier, the tournament was scheduled to be played in India but it has been shifted to UAE due to the second wave of corona infection. However, the tournament will be hosted by BCCI.

The tournament will be played in four grounds. The matches will be played at Dubai International Stadium, Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah Stadium and Oman Cricket Academy Ground. It will be the men's first T20 World Cup after 2016. The last time West Indies won the World Cup was by defeating England. The tournament was then held in India. Last year, the T20 World Cup in Australia had to be cancelled due to corona. It will now take place in Australia in 2022.

Also, round 1 of the 2021 T20 World Cup will have 12 matches and will be played between 8 teams. The teams will be in two groups and two teams each will qualify for the Super 12. Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Namibia, Oman, Papua New Guinea will play in the round. The matches are to be played in Oman. A total of 30 matches will be played in the Super 12. It is expected to start from October 24. Here, 12 teams will be divided into two groups. 8 out of 12 teams have come as per their rankings while the remaining four will be decided under Round 1.
