The history of this fort spread over 14 and a half acres is very old. It is said that in 1239, in this fort, the female ruler Razia Sultan or Sultana was taken captive by her own servant Altunia. Actually, Razia Sultana was the first female ruler of Muslim and Turkish history. For this reason, this fort is also known as Razia Sultan Fort. Apart from this, this fort has many other names, such as Bathinda Fort, Govindghar, Bakramghar, etc.

Gurudwara is also built inside this fort, which was built by Maharaja Karam Singh of Patiala. Guru Nanak Dev of Sikhs, Guru Tegh Bahadur has also come to this fort. It is said that once the Mughal ruler Babur came with him to this fort with some cannons, out of which four cannons are still present here.
