Czech Republic's Javelin player Jan Zelezny has hardly had any connection with India in his entire career, but today the whole of India can thank him. Indeed, inadvertently, but Zelezny's improvement in Neeraj Chopra's javelin throw techniques has played a major role. Neeraj Chopra has started a new era in Indian sports by winning the gold medal in Tokyo Olympics.
According to the report received, Neeraj Chopra initially learned to throw javelin like him by watching videos of Jan Zelezny on YouTube. He may have changed his action after the injury in 2018, but he continued to follow the Zelezny method while throwing the javelin. Neeraj has achieved the biggest success of his career. However, behind this is his many years of hard work. Neeraj started as a junior athlete at the Sports Authority of India Center at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula at a very young age. He practiced here for four years and broke many records in many festivals.
Also, Neeraj won the National Junior Championship in 2012 at the age of 14 in Lucknow by throwing 68.46 meters. This was his entry on the national stage. He improved the following year to throw 69.66m in Kerala. Thereafter, he reached 70 meters in 2014. In 2015, Neeraj won the gold medal in the Intervarsity Championships in Patiala with a throw of 81.04 meters.
