Omar wrote, "As far as I am concerned, I am clear that I will not contest assembly elections as long as Jammu and Kashmir remains a union territory. " It is worth mentioning that on August 5 last year, the Modi government not only abolished Article 370 and 35A of the Indian Constitution granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir, but by snatching the status of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and giving it to the two Union Territories.
