New Delhi: After receiving the first omicron patient in Delhi, the Delhi government has now started preparations to deal with this new variant of the corona. The Delhi Health Minister has demanded the Central Government to immediately ban flights to Delhi from countries where omicron variant cases have been found. In addition, the Health Minister said that Delhi will now be once again severely increased and no entry will be given anywhere without a mask.

The first patient of Omicron variant of Corona has been found in Delhi today. The man had returned to India from the African country of Tanzania. Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said that people coming from 'at risk' countries are being tested RTPCR at Delhi airport. So far 17 corona infected patients have been admitted to LNJP Hospital. Also, 6 contacts of these patients who are family members have also been admitted to LNJP Hospital. Genome sequencing of 12 out of 17 was carried out, out of which one preliminary report has found an omicron patient.

Final report to be received on Monday:- Health Minister said that omicron has not been found in 11. The man came from Tanzania. According to the health minister, the final report from the lab will be released on Monday. This is the first case in Delhi and the 5th omicron case in the country. He said the test will be conducted again after the final report is received.

Treatment protocol similar to corona:- The Health Minister said that the patient has been isolated. The rules of omicron treatment are similar to corona. A separate ward for omicron patients has been set up at LNJP. Also, a separate team is deployed at LNJP Hospital to treat omicron infected patients. Satyendra Jain said that there are 2 labs of genome sequencing in Delhi, one in LNJP and the other in ILBS Hospital. If the number of sample tests increases, samples will be sent to the Central Government.

Ban on flights:- Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had demanded a ban on Delhi flights from endangered countries since the world's omicron was discussed. Now, after receiving omicron patients in Delhi, the Government has reiterated this demand. Satyendra Jain said the Central government should seriously ban flights, which will make it easier to control omicrons. Because the symptoms in a passenger may occur 7 days later.

Wear masks, 99 per cent have chances to avoid:- Satyendra Jain said that the symptoms of omicron are exactly the type of corona. This is a new variant of the corona. If you leave the house, you must wear a mask.  99% chance that you can avoid corona. He said that the first dose of vaccine in Delhi has reached more than 90% and both doses have reached more than 60%. The speed of vaccination in Delhi has been increased and more than 1 lakh vaccinations are taking place every day. They are contacting people so that they get another dose immediately installed.

Delhi's opinion on booster dose:- He said that whatever expert or central government notifies about booster dose will be followed. He said the third wave was spoken about in October or November. Today, the newspapers read that the third wave may come in January or February. The third wave can be avoided if you follow the corona rules. Everyone needs to wear masks, avoid going into the crowd.

Will Delhi be tightened:- Health Minister says strictness will now be done in Delhi. People will be asked to wear masks, entry will not be allowed anywhere without masks.
