The omicron variant of the Covid-19 virus has similarly worsened the world and now there is another disaster between them all. In fact, British health authorities have warned of the latest variant called BA.2. Hundreds of cases of this variant have been specifically identified, while international data suggests it can spread relatively fast. In fact, the UK Health Safety Agency (UKHSA) has identified more than 400 cases of BA.2 in the UK in the first ten days of this month and indicated that new variants of omicron have also been detected in about 40 other countries.

It has the highest number of sub-variant patients in the most recent cases in some countries like India, Denmark and Sweden. UKHSA last Friday indicated that it had designated BA.2, a sub-variant of Omicron, as a version (VUI) under investigation as its cases were on the rise. However, most of the covid-19 cases coming to the UK these days are due to BA.1. The British Authority underlined that there is "still uncertainty about the importance of changes to the viral genome," which requires monitoring.

Amidst all this, if we look at the cases in recent times, India and Denmark have seen a sharp rise, especially in the BA.2 cases. On the other hand, Omicron is considered to be the most dangerous of the various forms of coronavirus. The World Health Organization (WHO), on the other hand, on November 26, called it 'alarming'. The 'worrying nature' is the who's the top category of more dangerous forms of coronavirus. The delta variant of coronavirus was also placed in the same category.
