New Delhi: Cases of omicron infection may increase in India and India will see high positivity rates. However, like South Africa, it will have a mild infection in most people. Angelike Koetzi, the first-time physician to identify the Omicron Variant, has made such a claim. The Chairperson of the South Africa Medical Association also said that the existing vaccine will certainly control infection, but the risk for people who do not take the vaccine is 100 per cent.

At the same time, Dr Koetzi explained, 'Omicron will spread less in vaccinated or previously infected individuals. While those who don't take the vaccine will definitely work to spread it.' He explained that corona infection is yet to end and may go to the endemic stage in the coming days. Endemic is the stage when infection or disease persists in a place. Dr Koetzi disagrees with the opinion of experts who claim that Omicron is moving towards the end, which is comparatively weaker than all the variants of the corona.

According to data released by the same Union Health Ministry, a total of 415 cases of omicron virus have been reported in India as of Saturday, out of which 115 patients have recovered or migrated. Dr Koetzi explained that any infection that goes out of control is a crisis for mankind. The new infection is also attacking young people and children, said Dr Koetzi, on the behaviour of the Omicron strain that is spreading all over the world.
