New Delhi: 75 crore Surya Namaskars will be performed in the country on the occasion of 75th Independence Day. In this regard, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has written to all universities and colleges directing them to perform Surya Namaskar on the 75th Independence Day. UGC Secretary Rajneesh Jain has written to vice-chancellors of more than 1,000 universities and principals of more than 40,000 colleges in the country and asked them to participate in the 75 crore Surya Namaskar programme to be held in January-February.

A letter from Rajneesh Jain also said that the programme aims to perform 75 crore Surya Namaskar by about 30,000 students studying in colleges and universities. The letter also directs all institutions to participate in the event from 1st January 2022 to 7th February 2022 and also to promote the programme. However, in a page added to the letter itself, the time period has been extended by 13 days.

According to the page in the letter, everyone participating in the event will have to perform Surya Namaskar for about 21 days in a span of 51 days. For this, Surya namaskar will have to be performed about 13 times every day for 21 days. In addition, a 1-minute video has also been asked to be made every day for the 21-day event. Students and institutions participating have also been asked to register on the website created for 75 crore Surya Namaskar programmes.
