After sailing on December 18 from the US state of Florida, a total of 55 persons aboard a Royal Caribbean International cruise ship tested positive for Covid-19, according to the firm. Passengers and staff members aboard the Odyssey of the Seas cruise ship were infected, and all have been fully vaccinated, according to the operator.

According to media sources, the ship, which was on an eight-night voyage, will not sail to the Caribbean islands of Curacao and Aruba as planned, and will instead remain at sea until it returns to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on December 26. According to reports in the US media, the ship has around 3,500 passengers and 1,600 crew members on board.

In less than a week, there has been a second coronavirus outbreak on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. Last week, the Symphony of the Seas cruise ship returned to the port of Miami with 48 Covid-19 patients on board after a seven-day trip in the Caribbean.
