Hapur: A cylinder blast took place at Rajmahal Banquet Hall on Chandi Road in the city under the Hapur Kotwali area amidst the wedding ceremony. One cylinder after another also caught fire and several cylinders exploded with explosions. There was panic at the function. The police and fire brigade team arrived quickly and brought the fire under control. Amidst the incident, some people got stuck in the rooms above the banquet hall. They were rescued by the fire brigade and police amid the smoke.
A young woman from Panna Puri was getting married in the banquet hall. In the evening, the procession came and the wedding ceremonies were being performed with fanfare. Meanwhile, a domestic cylinder installed at a food stall was leaked. The cylinder caught fire due to leakage. It has been learnt that other cylinders in the vicinity also started catching fire. The fire started blasting with several cylinder explosions one after the other. People escaped and saved their lives. High flames started rising in the banquet hall. The sound of the blasts was heard far and wide.
Some people were trapped in the rooms in the upper part of the hall due to fire and smoke. The fire brigade which reached the spot doused the fire. Kotwali police and fire brigade personnel then started rescuing the people trapped in the rooms. Overall, there were no casualties in the fire.
