Twelve couples from different Barak Valley villages will marry in a mass wedding ceremony organised by the Lions Club in Silchar, Assam. On Sunday, they will tie the knot at the Normal School premises in Silchar in the 18th edition of Gana Bibaha 2022.

As many as 12 couples will tie the marriage amid blessings, joy, and celebration, according to Pradip Ghosh, president of Lions Club Silchar. On the occasion, he added, the organisers would offer the couples presents, rations for a month, and necessary products. The couples are mostly daily wage labourers from tea garden areas, according to Samik Sen, the club's secretary, along with SS Endow, Rupnayan Das, RN Dutta Banik, Jashabanta Das, and others.

The Lions members stated that the ceremony will be held in accordance with the Covid 19 guidelines and in accordance with the safety protocol. "Through this effort, we've tried to offer modest collaboration to folks who mostly hail from rural tea garden places like Chandigarh Tea Garden, Kashipur Tea Estate, Nagar Tea Estate, and so on," Das added.

"We are grateful to the authorities of Normal School Silchar for allowing us to hold the yearly event there." We also appreciate the support of other organisations in achieving the goal," he said.
