New Delhi [India], June 1 (NT): State-run Indian Oil Corp. Ltd today cut Prices for petrol and diesel by 6 paise and 5 paise per litre respectively on Friday.

In the national capital Delhi, Petrol now costs Rs 78.29 per litre, on the other hand diesel price has been fallen to Rs 69.20 a litre at Indian Oil petrol pumps.

In addition to Delhi, the revised Petrol prices in other metro cities are - Rs 80.92 in Kolkata, Rs 86.10 in Mumbai and Rs 81.28 in Chennai.

Meanwhile, the revised Diesel price was Rs 71.75 in Kolkata, Rs 73.67 in Mumbai and 73.06 in Chennai.

The fuel price was cut down for the third day after it remained historic high for 16 consecutive days. With the dynamic fuel pricing launched in June 2017, theModi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has maintained that it has no role in pricing. Petrol prices were deregulated in June 2010 by the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) regime. diesel prices was decontrolled in October 2014.

On a related note Indian Oil reduced petrol and diesel prices by 1 paisa per litre on Wednesday—a hilarious move that was mocked by the all opposition as asserting Modi should take “Fuel challenge”. The Left-front government in Kerala announced on Wednesday to cut fuel prices by Rs1 per litre .
