Shivpuri: A one-and-a-half-year-old boy died last Tuesday during a protest by villagers against dumping pipes on a culvert on an under-construction road in Ramnagar Gadhai village under Karera police station in Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh. Three policemen were injured during the incident. Now, in this case, the villagers have alleged that the child died in police lathi charge. On the other hand, the police have termed the allegation as false.

He said, "The police have not resorted to lathi-charge.'' Briefing about the entire case, the Karera police station in-charge Amit Singh Bhadauria said, "A road is being constructed at Village Gadhai in Karera. That is why, last Magalwar, there was a dispute over a pipeline on a culvert in the villagers and the road construction company. The contractor of the construction company had applied to the SDM in this regard.'' Further, the police station in-charge Amit Singh Bhadauria said, "After that, police force was sent to the spot and some villagers started pelting stones at the police, injuring Sub Inspector of Police Raghavendra Yadav and two other policemen.''

He further said, "No step like lathi-charge has been taken. The allegation that the child died due to a police lathi charge is completely false.'' As soon as he came to know about the matter, Congress MLA from Karera, Pragilal Jatav, said, "I have spoken to the villagers. The villagers were protesting against the dumping of pipes on the culvert being constructed on the road under construction, which was also submitted to the Tehsildar.'' He further said that according to villagers, the innocent has died of police lathi charge. Jatav and villagers have also put the body on the road and protested.
