Kolkata: Four members of a house were killed in a fight over Rakhi Purnima Puja in West Bengal's Howrah. All of them have been killed one by one with a dagger. The case is of the MC Ghosh Lane police station area. The incident took place on Wednesday night. The police arrested the culprit woman within 24 hours. The woman has killed her mother-in-law, brother-in-law and niece. The husband of the criminal woman is also suspected, but he is currently absconding.

According to the reports, there was a dispute about celebrating Rakhi Purnima in the house at around 10.30 pm on Wednesday. The dispute escalated when Pallabi Ghosh noticed that a tap in the toilet on the ground floor was open and water was flowing. On this, Pallabi complained to her mother-in-law that due to wastage of water, there is often a shortage in the house.

In the same words, the dispute deepened and in anger, Pallabi picked up the dagger and first attacked her mother-in-law Madhabi (58). Pallavi also attacked his brother-in-law Debashish (36), his wife Rekha (31) and her 13-year-old niece with a dagger. All four suffered deep injuries on their neck, shoulders, chest and hands, leading to their death. Later, on receiving the information, the police reached the spot and took possession of the body. The police arrested Pallabi. During interrogation, Pallabi confessed to killing the four. She said she took medication throughout the day. Police said doctors are being consulted about the woman if she is suffering from mental illness. The woman also told the police that she used to have frequent fights in the house over several issues. Locals said there was not much socialisation in the family.
